Our paint correction service is offered as an option on our Showroom, Concours, Studio and New Car Preparation details and for the vast majority of cars, really can make a massive> difference.
Also known as "swirl mark removal" or "machine polishing", paintwork correction is the systematic application of varying grades of cleanser, polish or compound to your car's paint to achieve the desired results while maintaining the integrity of the finish.
Basically, the technique removes microscopic amounts of the surface in order to smooth away problems. It could be likened to ultra fine sanding but when we talk about microscopic we are referring to a few microns (a micron is 1/1000th of a millimeter)! Precision is vital if the paint is to be preserved and the best finish produced.
As you can probably tell, to be able to do the job properly requires being able to judge the existing condition of your car's paint and forsee likely issues before starting work. This requires not only the use of hi-tech paint depth gauges, but also years of experience and understanding of the many different paint systems used on cars.
They are usually quite dramatic:
- Swirling is removed
- Light scratches are taken out
- Heavier scratches are reduced
- Faded paint is restored
- Most surface blemishes or marring are removed or reduced
- The paint is left with a stunning finish that has a shine that has to be seen to be believed
There seem to be a lot of people offering this service these days but it is often done as an aside to another business or on an amateur basis.

It's not possible to give a definitive set of prices for paint correction as it depends on so many factors such as; the size of the car, current condition, any respray work, any past correction work, level of correction wanted, etc.
A typical example might be:
| Car | Audi A3 |
| Condiiton | Light swirling and some light scratches |
| Colour | Mauritius Blue |
| Year | 2007 |
| Service | 2 stage paint correction + Studio Detail |
| Estimated Cost | £ 215.00 - £245.00 (inc VAT) |
We can usually provide fairly accurate estimates of the cost involved over the phone once we have discussed your car and what you would like to achieve from the correction, but we never provide a final price until we have thoroughly inspected your vehicle.
That said, as we don't charge for inspections or quotations, there really is nothing to lose in dropping us a line.
